Live in Concerts with Jagjit Singh

This was my first ever live concert of Jagjit Singh Ji, Thanks to my senior Mr. Nikhil Bhatnagar, who arranged for this ticket. In collage days watching the concert with R.s. 500 ticket was also big achievement for me but it was all worth. It was a mesmerizing experience hearing his voice live.

Those two hours made me feel like I am in heaven. I was surprised to see that his fan following compromised of all age groups and majority was youngsters like me. Jagjit Ji’s sense of humor and understanding of the audience was superb. He was cracking jokes and reciting poetry in between his ghazals. He also performed a Jugalbandi with all his band which won the heart of the audience. I was shouting for a Punjabi number and he ended the concert with Saare Pind che Puware Paaye. This was a life time experience for me.

I was so impressed by the experience that I attended another concert in the same year. It was the time that our junior batch came in and I came across Ankit Rajput and Sumit Gandhi, they were also admirers of Jagjit Singh. I asked them to accompany me in the concert. This time the ticket was 300 R.s. The concert held at Hyderabad International Convention Center, this place was enormously.

While everyone was enjoying the show, I could see some movement near the stage; those were few Doctors who could not understand Ghazals. I wanted to occupy those seats but the security stopped us, Jagjit Ji saw this and asked security to let us occupy those seats. Watching him from 15 meters of distance was amazing. When the concert ended we went to Jagjit Singh Ji, but he was in a hurry and gave us the bouquet of flowers which was presented to him. I have preserved that and carried it all along with me from HyderabadàBangaloreàMumbai.
